We lost another large part of Ocean Drive this week…The man who was instrumental in putting together the first SOS….Robert Gene “Swink” Laughter. We’d like to take the time to say THANK YOU to this man who had a dream and made it happen. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will carry on every year when thousands migrate to North Myrtle Beach for the annual Society of Stranders (SOS) parties. There will be a Celebration of Life for Swink today at 11:00 at the OD Pavilion. It’s open to the public and we’re sure will be well attended. There’s no doubt that the Fat Man will be sittin’ beside Swink lookin’ down and enjoyin’ the stories that are gonna be told. These two made it possible for Ocean Drive to thrive and become the Beach Music haven that it is. They were here in the beginning and their memories will live on. Back to bidness…Fat Harold’s Beach Club and the Shag City Grill will open today at 1 with Customer Appreciation from 4 to 7. DJ Gary Bass will be in the booth tonight startin’ at 7.
