I have come to really love Fat Harolds over the past year. I just learned to shag last year and often went to Duck’s or to the Spanish Galleon. Then I realized what so many others already knew and that what we love is dancing to the DJ’s music. For the most part at least from what I have heard the people that come to Fat Harolds don’t want live band music. It’s too loud, too cramped, and we can go other places for that if that is what we wanted but we don’t. So lately I have been greatly disappointed with having to deal with live music and bands at Fat Harolds. I would suggest that you poll those who frequent your establishment and see if this is really what your patrons want. We went reluctantly to Ducks last Sat. and were surprised at the number of people who came over from Fat Harolds that nite. Anyway, just a thought. Also, on another note. I have really come to love the older beach music that has a blues feel to it and enjoy the fifties and sixties music. Is there a particular DJ who plays more of that stuff? I’m not much for the 70’s and 80’s disco flavor taht I have heard from some of the DJ’s. Just wondering. I love beach music and even though I am only a beginner I love the shag. The people there all all really friendly the bar staff is too.
We are so glad that you love Fat Harold’s. We do too! When we have bands there is a reason. A business decision made by management for a particular reason. We have them on Sunday afternoons in the winter for entertainment, otherwise the building would be empty. We had the band Saturday nite to incorporate the community. We had a fundraiser for the Humane Society and wanted to include everybody, even the younger set that do not shag. If we can get them in the building for any reason maybe, just maybe they will catch the bug and return to SHAG. The band Saturday nite, Six Stylez, was a band to appeal to all. They were loud and when they return that will be taken care of. Sorry you had to leave and we do try to accommodate but don’t be looking for any polls cause this is a place to have fun for all, a nightclub-bar-grill. We are in tune with what is going on and will tweak what is necessary. We appreciate your business and hope that you will return on the days that we don’t have bands.
