Today is 4th in our series “Get To Know Your Fun Team”. Today’s Fun Team member is Lulu Quick-Rigsby. Born and raised in Clarkton, NC…better known to her as “the swamp”. Lulu’s been a fixture here at Fat Harold’s for a long time but you might not know her as well as you think you do…Let’s see!

Question #1: When did you first come to Fat Harold’s and which club?
Lulu: I worked at a little place called the old Spanish Galleon and then moved to Harold’s Across The Street..The rest is history!

Question #2: Describe your funniest interaction with a customer at Fat Harold’s.
Lulu: You remember Shad Alberty? He came in one day at HATS and asked me for a blow job..that’s a drink, ya know…I thought about it for a minute, went in the kitchen and got a paper sack..blew in it…and said “how about one to go?”!

Question #3: What do you see yourself doing 5 years from now?
Lulu: Sitting in my box with my coca-cola glasses on counting money and working on the computer. NO retirement til 66 and 4 months.

Question #4: How would you describe yourself?
Lulu: A mess. That’s what my daddy called me and so did the Fat Man. I’m honest, fair, funloving, love everybody..til you cross me. I love a challenge and like to learn new things. Definitely a TAURUS THE BULL.

Question #5: Do you have pets? If so, what type (names)?
Lulu: Oh yes! 2 white standard poodles – Guy and Snow. Cailico cat – Slade. A bluefront Amazon parrot – Gus. And, a guard dog – Baby!

Question #6: As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
Lulu: Basketball coach and Biology teacher. Missed that, didn’t I?

Question #7: Your favorite hangout when you were a teenager?
Lulu: The old Spanish Galleon or the Magic Carpet. It’s a toss up.

Question #8: How long have you been on the beach?
Lulu: I came over on the Mayflower (hehe). Since ’79.

Question #9: Your favorite music, dance or band in high school?
Lulu: Motown…any kind of dance…Loved the Temptations and Diana Ross and the Supremes.

Question #10: What was your first job and how old were you?
Lulu: 6 years old…Tobacco patch…Need I say more?

Question #11: What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you in your lifetime?
Lulu: So many funny things have happened to me! You didn’t work for the Fat Man without funny things happening! One that crosses my mind is a conversation with Harold and him giving me advice in front of a whole bunch of people..”Never trust a fart”…Read down and you’ll see I didn’t listen! (hehe)

Question #12: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Lulu: I love to cook, eat, knit, DIY projects, watch college basketball (GO HEELS!). Now the problem is…WHAT spare time?

Question #13: Most embarrassing moment in your lifetime?
Lulu: Well, I sort of had an accident and my husband said I couldn’t come in the house. So, I took
my clothes off in the back yard and he sprayed me down with a waterhose.

Question #14: Is there anything you would like to do or accomplish in your life that you haven’t done?
Lulu: I WILL write a book. Hopefully, before dementia sets in. I would love to go back to Africa and see how much it’s changed since I was there at 16 years old.

Question #15: Can you share something personal that most folks don’t know about you?
Lulu: Jim Quick and I are REALLY cousins! I REALLY did put Endit on the Fat Man’s Buttocks. He was hurting and nobody else would do it, so I did. Loved that man…no matter what!

You’re likely to run into Lulu ANYWHERE in Fat Harold’s. She spends most of her time in the office now but still works the outside beer tents, cooks a burger or fixes you a drink, when needed. Say hey and give her a hug next time you see her!
